“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled” ~ Mathew 5:6
To live a life of righteousness is to consciously choose God above all else. For us to achieve and live out such a life, our heart posture must be set right.
From our anchor scripture, we see that righteousness begins as a heart posture.
This leads us to an important question:
Do you hunger and thirst for righteousness?
Let’s pause for a moment and genuinely reflect on that.
What does it mean to hunger and thirst after righteousness?
It means seeking God’s will above your own. It is consciously choosing to do what is right in the eyes of God at all times. It is refusing to compromise, because your heart cannot help but desire to please Him.
It is yearning to ensure that in all you do, God is glorified.
It is longing to live a life consistently in alignment with God, never straying from the path He has set before you.
So I ask again: Do you hunger and thirst for righteousness?
Until our hearts come to that place of deep yearning and longing to please God and to do His will, we will find ourselves falling in and out of righteousness.
It all begins with our heart posture. Once our hearts are rightly positioned in desire for Him, living righteously becomes the natural outflow of our lives.
“As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.” ~ Psalms 42: 1-2
Prayer: Lord, help my heart to desire and long after righteousness.
