HOW TO RECEIVE FROM GOD IN A PLACE OF INTERCESSION (4)

“Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”-  1 Thessalonians 5:16-18.

What Does It Mean to Intercede?

Intercession is prayer done on behalf of another. It is simply communicating with God on behalf of a person, a territory, a situation, or a challenge. It is a powerful means through which we commune with God. As believers, the Word of God, which serves as our guide here on earth, implores us to pray always with a thankful heart regardless of the situation (Colossians 4:2).

If you are interceding for a friend, a child, or a situation, the Word of God says to approach the place of prayer with a heart of gratitude.

As believers, we do not pray as those who are without hope. Christ in us, the hope of glory, is more than capable of meeting us at the point of our needs (Colossians 1:27). Thus, we are encouraged to adopt a culture of thanking God. If He could die for us while we were sinners, what won’t He do for us now that we are in Him?

Approach the place of prayer from a place of victory. Concerning that situation that troubles you, intercede from a place of victory.

Thanksgiving also helps us remember the good nature of God and His faithfulness in the past. This way, our faith is strengthened because we are reminded of the ways He has shown up for us before. We become even more conscious of His deep love and kindness towards us.

Beloved, take time to thank your Maker. Bask in His goodness and beauty. The place of intercession should not be one where we only come with our requests and needs. Thanksgiving is also a form of prayer.

Prayer Point:

Dear Jesus, help me to be thankful in all circumstances. May I never lose sight of Your love and care for me. Amen.
