“If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.”~ John 15:7
One of the greatest challenges we face in the body of Christ today is the widespread neglect of daily nourishment from the Word of God. There is a profound reason why we are instructed to meditate on the Word day and night—it contains the treasures and promises that God has made to us.
Through God’s Word, we gain direction, clarity, strength, and help. It provides solutions to the challenges we face, as His Word is eternally true. The Bible instructs us that the “book of the law” should never depart from our mouths, but we should meditate on it continually.
The first question to ask is: When was the last time you studied your Bible?
The lack of regular engagement with God’s Word is why many believers offer prayers that are not aligned with or grounded in Scripture. For example, praying for Satan to be destroyed is a prayer that is not in line with the Bible. The truth is, Satan will not be destroyed until after Jesus’ return when he is cast into eternal punishment.
Revelation 20:10 (NIV) says, “And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night forever and ever.”
Now, consider all the prayers you’ve made in the past that were not aligned with Scripture. Do you see why God may not have responded to those requests?
When you pray, ensure that your requests are rooted in and backed by Scripture. This way, you can have confidence that your prayers will be answered.
Prayer: Help me Lord, to pray Your will for me.
