SPIRITUAL MATURITY IV- LIVING BY THE FRUIT AND OPERATING IN THE GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT

“I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong”- Ephesians 3:16-17

1 John 4:13 says, “And God has given us His Spirit as proof that we live in Him and He in us.” The Holy Spirit is our very present helper, friend, and teacher given to us by God for empowerment and enabling. The Holy Spirit is our advocate who guides us and keeps us on the right path as orchestrated by God.

Galatians 5:22-23 outlines the fruit of the Spirit, which includes love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility, and self-control. This fruit is living proof that we belong to Christ. They are characteristics that must be embedded in us as Christians. In order to be spiritually mature, we must put on and live by the Fruit of the Spirit.

While we live by the fruit, we become more like Christ. We become more loving and kind like our heavenly Father. We become patient and kind like Jesus. We become good, faithful, humble, and display self-control like the One who lives in us.

1 Corinthians 12:4-11 also outlines the gifts of the Spirit, which enable us for ministry. These gifts empowers and draws us closer to Christ. While we operate in these gifts, we discover more about God and draw people to His kingdom!

Prayer: Dear Jesus, help us to live according to the fruit of the spirit, while operating in the amazing gifts that You’ve freely given to all who believe in Your finished works on the cross. Amen.
