HOW TO REMAIN STEADFAST IN A PLACE OF PRAYER (III)

Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.”- Hebrews 12:1

As human beings, it is no surprise that we give our attention and time to things that really matter to us. We live in a world where countless things constantly vie for our attention, so we have to create time for what we want to do. Otherwise, we may not be able to do it.

The first question is: what matters to you?

While it is important to prioritize our jobs, family, and careers, our relationship with Christ should always be our top priority. This is why, on the journey toward building a more consistent prayer time, we should set aside specific times each day to meet with God.

Think of it as an appointment with the King of Kings that you cannot afford to miss.

We all have events, tasks, and activities that can distract us during prayer. Such distractions need to be set aside to help us remain focused and intentional. For instance, if your phone is a major distraction, you might want to put it aside and use a physical Bible and notepad. For others, the distractions might be family, children, work, or other responsibilities. Whatever it is that distracts you, set it aside during your prayer time.

Remember, you are meeting with the King of Kings. You cannot afford to be distracted by random things during such an important meeting.

Prayer Point: Dear Jesus, help us to do away with distractions and give ourselves entirely to you in the place of prayer. Amen.
