INTRODUCTION TO THE KINGDOM CULTURE

“For the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.”~ Romans 14:17

Culture is far more than the clothes we wear or the languages we speak. It is the total expression of a people’s way of life. It shapes how people think, communicate, relate, work, celebrate, and make decisions. At its core, culture is the system of shared values, beliefs, behaviors, customs, and norms that define how a group of people live and interact with their world. It acts as an invisible force that influences choices, priorities, and relationships.

This same principle applies to the Christain faith. The Kingdom of God has its own distinct culture; a set of values and ways of living that set believers apart from the world’s systems.

In Acts 11:26,

“And when he (Barnabas) had found him (Saul/Paul), he brought him to Antioch. So it was that for a whole year they assembled with the church and taught a great many people. And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.”

We see that the early followers of Jesus were first called Christians in Antioch because their way of life visibly reflected the teachings of Christ. They did not merely claim a label; their daily conduct, speech, and unity showed a new kind of culture rooted in love, holiness, and truth.

Kingdom Culture is not defined by human traditions but by the principles found in God’s Word. It calls us to live by higher standards, marked by humility, service, righteousness, and unwavering faith.

Earthly cultures change with trends and generations, Kingdom Culture remains constant because its source is unchanging.

This means that as Christians, there is a distinct way of life we are called to align with. Christ, our firstborn example, shows us exactly how to live. We are called to imitate the life He lived while on earth, a life completely surrendered to the Father and fully committed to doing His will. He is our perfect model such that, by following Him, we grow to become more like Him each day.

Prayer: Lord, please reveal to me what it means to be a Christain.
