A LIFE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS = KINGDOM BLESSINGS

“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well.” ~ Mathew 6: 33

In the verses preceding our anchor scripture, Jesus asked the people why they worried about life: what they would eat, wear, and so on. When we read those verses, we often see a reflection of ourselves.

As humans, we often find ourselves consumed with the cares of this world. There are bills to pay, responsibilities to carry out, and challenges to overcome.

Even in prayer, 90% of our requests revolve around what we want or need.

While diligence, resilience, and accountability are important, Jesus reminds us that true success and fulfilment are not found in worry or striving.

He directs us to a greater priority. In Matthew 6:33, He gives us a secret, a principle for receiving all that we desire.

He says, ‘Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness.’ When we pursue these first, then everything else – the wealth, the clothing, the food, and every other need – will be given to us.

This reveals that the true key to provision is not endless prayer and fasting but a life lived in alignment with God’s righteousness.

Jesus goes on to say:

“Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you, by worrying, add a single hour to your life? And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labour or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendour was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the fields, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you – you of little faith? So do not worry, saying ‘what shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘what shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” ~ Matthew 6: 25-33

Beloved, God already knows your needs and your wants even before you ask Him. So why not trust Him to handle every detail of your life? Seek His kingdom, pursue righteousness, and let the King of Glory supply everything you need.

Prayer: Lord, help me to seek you, your kingdom and righteousness first above every other thing.
