OUR IDENTITY IN CHRIST PT. II

“I have been crucified with Christ, it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by the faith in the son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” ~ Galathians 2: 20.

Do you remember the faithful day you gave your life to Jesus? That simple vulnerable moment- with tears in your eyes, and a heavy heart, you said “Yes” to the gift of salvation.

For many, that moment is usually a deeply emotional and life-changing experience. But one truth many believers are yet to grasp is this; the moment we surrendered our hearts to Jesus, we handed over our entire lives to Him; for His purpose, His use, and His glory.

Our anchor scripture reminds us that we have been crucified with Christ (Galatians 2:20). By accepting His death, burial, and resurrection, we declare that we no longer live for ourselves. Our lives no longer belong to us, they have been ceded to Christ, the One who gave His life for us.

Jesus gave His life for us on the Cross so that He might live through us here on earth. His sacrifice was not just to save us from sin, but to gain access to our lives, so that His presence, power, and nature can be revealed through us.

The verse continues: “It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.”
This means we are no longer the ones in charge. The life we now live is not ours to direct; it belongs to Christ, who now lives and dwells within us.

With this reality, when people encounter Christians (us), they should see a reflection of Jesus, our firstborn and perfect example in us. If they look at us and no longer see Christ in our words, actions, or attitude, then they begin to question whether we truly belong to Him. Why? Because what sets a Christian apart is not just belief, but a life shaped by Christ in them.

Sadly, it seems the world sometimes understands this principle more clearly than we Christians do. As believers, we often forget that our lives have been offered to Jesus Christ, the eternal Spirit who now lives in us. So if this life is no longer ours, it only makes sense that we should live it in accordance with the will of its true Owner. That Christ may be made manifest through everything we do, that when people see us, they see Him.

Prayer: Lord, please help my  life be a reflection of YOU.
