OVERCOMING FEAR- FAITH OVER FEAR (I)

“ For God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” ~ 2 Timothy 1 vs 7.

Firstly, we need to establish that fear is not of God, as the scriptures clearly tell us that God has not given us a spirit of fear. So, where does fear come from then? Fear is a spirit from the pit of hell that unfortunately plagues a great number of Christians in the world today. This is usually as a result of lack of understanding and ignorance regarding our identity in  Christ.

The average believer experiences fear when faced with challenges, but we forget that we are priests and kings of this earth. As children of God, when we come under the covering of God and exercise our authority in Christ, we have dominion over the works of darkness.

That’s why Jesus said to his disciples in Luke 10:17, “Behold, I give you authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

As believers, when we fully grasp and embrace our authority in Christ, we would appreciate and understand the significance of what Jesus did for us. This understanding empowers us to walk confidently in the victory and freedom that Jesus secured for us through His life, death, and resurrection.

How then can we overcome fear?

We can overcome fear by building intimacy with our Father, praying, studying the word, growing in faith and understanding that we are sons and daughters of the King.

Prayer: Father, help me trust You and Your plans for me. Help me live in the consciousness of who I am in Christ. Amen.
