“God sent his angel to shut the mouth of the lions so that they would not hurt me. He did this because he knew I was innocent and because I have not wronged you, your Majesty.”
The story of Daniel is quite an interesting one, and it is also one that we are very much familiar with. In Daniel 6, we see how the other Kings men, gathered against Daniel in search of a way to bring him down. Simply because he carried such an excellent Spirit, and was excelling better at his tasks than all of them.
As a result of their envy, they sought out ways to put him down, and found no errors with his work. They then went ahead to advise King Darius to issue a decree they knew Daniel was definitely not going to adhere to because it concerned his religion.
The decree was that for the next 30 days, no one was permitted to pray or seek anything from a god or human being except the king.
Of course, just as they had predicted, Daniel did not heed the decree of the king as he carried on with his prayers every day to the Lord—three times in a day with his windows open.
These men saw this and went on straight to report him, asking that he be thrown in the den of lions as the punishment was.
What they didn’t know was that their act of wickedness, was them, setting a trap for themselves. As God came through mightily by sending his Angels to shut the mouths of the lions.
God works in very interesting ways, but he sends his Angels- his messengers to carry out his will here on earth.
Just as he did for Daniel, he does for us as well; he sends his angels to fight battles on our behalf—those we are aware of and those we are not aware of.
So we can be rest assured that, so far as we are in God, His angels will continue to protect us.
Prayer: Father, help me trust You at all times. To know that Your angels are present to protect me.
