“Then he prayed “O Lord, open his eyes and let him see! The Lord answered his prayer and Elisha’s servant looked up and saw the hillside covered with horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.” ~ 2Kings 6: 8-23

The story of Elisha and how God sent him an army of angels with horses and chariots of fire is another practical example of angelic help.

Elisha, being a servant of the Lord, had done well by providing the King of Israel with the spiritual intelligence he needed to win the war against the Syrian army. If we recall, in the previous weeks, we came to understand that spiritual knowledge is key, as the enemy thrives in our ignorance. As a result of this intelligence from God, every attempt of the enemy to take down Israel at that time failed woefully.

After they realised their plans were failing, they decided to go after Elisha himself, the messenger of the Lord. But, as always, God stood up for Elisha by sending an army to fight for him. This army was not a physical one but a spiritual one that he had to ask God to reveal to his servant. As soon as their enemies gathered around Elisha, he prayed that they be struck with blindness, and the Lord did just that. What a wonderful testimony that is!

With God on their side, they were able to defeat the Syrian army. With the help of the horses and chariots, Elisha’s life and that of his servant were preserved. God indeed does wonders, and He sends His angels to do His will here on earth.

Prayer: Father, with the help of Your angels, help me defeat my enemies.
