“Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The Spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” ~ Mathew 26: 41.
Have you ever noticed that sometimes your heart wants to pray, but your body just longs to do something else? Or have you ever been in a situation where you had scheduled a time to pray and were so determined, but when the time approached, you just seemed to lose interest? Well, it happens to all of us.
Why? Because the spirit is indeed willing, but the flesh is weak. The greatest enemy to our Christian journey is not Satan but our own flesh. That is why Paul said he dies daily, killing his flesh and its desires, because it is the greatest enemy of mankind. The flesh never wants to engage in spiritual activities; it never wants to pray or study the Word.
But as Christians, we have been called to live a life of prayer! How then do you defeat the flesh? Well, it is still through prayer! This means that on the days when your flesh is weak, use that as motivation to pray even more.
Of course, this is not something we can do by our own strength, and that is why we have the gift of the Holy Spirit. He has been sent to us as a helper, so feel free to ask Him for help. Every time you are too weak to pray, call on Him to help you, and He will.
Prayer: Holy Spirit, please I need your help. Help me and teach me how to Pray. Amen.
