“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…” ~ Romans 12:2
In case you need some clarification on the culture we’ve been referring to since the start of this series, it is the culture of the Kingdom of God.
Now, some might ask, “Why should we adopt the culture of a Kingdom we will fully experience in eternity, here on earth?”
Well, for two reasons:
1. We are in this world, but we are not of this world, as seen in our anchor Scripture.
2. We need to adopt the culture of the Kingdom of God and actually live our lives in line with that culture in order to reign in eternity with God.
“To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.” ~ Revelation 3:21
Even though we are in this present world and age, we must remember that we are only passersby, our true home is not here but with our Savior who died for us.
However, as seen in the Scripture above, only those who overcome the temptations of this world, the ways of this world, and live their lives rightly will be granted access to reign in Heaven with Christ, just as He reigns with God the Father.
This Scripture clearly shows us that while we live here, we must not conform to the ways of this world.
For example, in your workplace, if everyone else forges figures, you must choose not to, because you are not of this world.
If everyone else puts in a false check-in time, you must choose honesty, even if it means receiving a query for arriving late.
We are not of this world; we differ from those in it, and we should live with that consciousness daily.
Our principles and values must always set us apart from the ways of this world.
For we have been called to live a life separated unto God and Him alone:
“Therefore, ‘Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you. I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.’”~ 2 Corinthians 6:17–18
Prayer: Lord, please teach me to be separate from the world. Help me see that I am not of this world, O Lord.
