“For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.” ~ Romans 5:10
Through the disobedience of one man- Adam, sin entered this world and became a part of man’s makeup, though in the beginning it was not so.
God, in His infinite mercy, chose to restore and reconcile us to Himself through the obedience of His Son- Jesus Christ.
He bore upon Himself the sins of the world, even though no sin was found in Him.
An innocent and righteous man carried the weight of humanity- past, present, and future, to bring salvation to the earth.
The death of Christ was not an accident, nor merely a tragic event, it was a divine exchange. At the cross, justice and mercy met. What we deserved was placed upon Him, and what belonged to Him- righteousness, sonship, and access to God, was given to us. As written in 2 Corinthians 5:21, “He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”
Through His death, the power of sin was broken, and the barrier between God and man was removed. No longer are we separated or condemned; instead, we are invited into fellowship, into relationship, and into a new life. The blood of Jesus did not only cleanse, it restored, justified, and made whole. As seen in Ephesians 1:7, “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.”
More than forgiveness, His death speaks of love; deep, sacrificial, unconditional love. A love demonstrated not when we were worthy, but while we were still sinners, as declared in Romans 5:8. This love calls us into a transformed life; one no longer bound by sin, but empowered by grace.
And it does not end at His death. The same scripture reminds us that having been reconciled, we are now saved by His life. His resurrection power sustains us daily, enabling us to live in victory, purpose, and continual fellowship with God.
The cross, therefore, is not just a symbol, it is the foundation of our faith, the proof of God’s love, and the gateway to a new life.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for the gift of your Salvation, the gift of your death on the cross. That through you the world has gained light and reconciliation to the Father.
