THE RESSURECTION OF CHRIST

“Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.” ~ Romans 6:4.

Having died and been buried, the gates of hell seemed to have prevailed in putting down the Son of God. Unknown to them, however, they were only playing a part in the grand design of God’s eternal plan.

The death of Christ was significant, and so was His burial, each accomplishing its divine purpose. Yet, what followed was the greatest miracle humanity had ever witnessed: that a man who truly died rose again, not by the intervention of another, nor by human effort, but by His own divine authority.

Jesus, being divine in nature, demonstrated to the world that He holds power over Sheol and death. As declared in Acts 2:24, “whom God raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it.” Death could not contain Him; the grave could not silence Him.

The resurrection of Christ is the ultimate proof that His sacrifice was accepted. It is the confirmation that sin was fully dealt with, that justice was satisfied, and that redemption was complete. As written in Romans 4:25, He “was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our justification.”

But beyond proof, His resurrection is also a promise. It signifies the beginning of a new life for all who believe. Just as Christ was raised from the dead, we too are raised into a new reality, no longer bound by sin, but alive unto God. The same power that raised Him now works in us, enabling us to live victoriously and purposefully, as seen in Ephesians 1:19–20.

The resurrection is not merely an event to be remembered, it is a life to be lived. It calls us out of spiritual death into vitality, out of defeat into victory, and out of limitation into divine possibility. Where death once reigned, life now prevails. Where hopelessness once lingered, a living hope now stands, as affirmed in 1 Peter 1:3.

Therefore, the resurrection of Christ is our assurance that nothing is beyond God’s power to restore. It is the foundation of our faith, the source of our victory, and the guarantee of eternal life. Because He lives, we live also.

Prayer: Thank you Jesus for the sacrifice of your life for the whole of eternity.
