“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.”~ Galatians 5 vs 22-23.
Have you ever seen a mango tree produce an orange? Or have you ever seen a lion give birth to a rat? These are impossibilities. And why is that? Because each has its own fruit that it produces. Just as a woman can never give birth to a goat, her fruit will always be a child.
An orange tree will always produce oranges, and that is how we identify it because, as the scripture says, “By their fruits you shall know them” (Matthew 7:16).
In the same way, we as believers ought to exhibit the fruits of the Spirit that identify us as Christians.
Just as it is unnatural for a lion to give birth to a rat, it should be just as unnatural for a believer to live without exhibiting these fruits—without showing love, without harboring joy and peace, and without any sign of long-suffering, kindness, goodness, or faithfulness.
This means that as believers, we must make living with the fruits of the Spirit our goal. Whether we realize it or not, the world is watching us. People are looking at us, comparing us to the God we serve, and when they see no correlation between us and Christ, we undermine their chances of believing in the faith.
Your life alone is enough to win a soul to Christ, simply by living the life of Christ and exhibiting the fruits of the Spirit.
The more we live like Him, the more we reflect Him.
Prayer: Lord, please help me exhibit the fruit of the Spirit in the way I live my life.
