“And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” ~2 Corinthians 3:18

One of the primary functions of the Holy Spirit, beyond helping us walk this Christian journey, is to sanctify us—helping us live lives consecrated to God.

Galatians 5:16-17, Romans 8:13-14, and 1 Corinthians 6:11 all touch on this sanctification process.

Romans 15:16 says, “…to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles. He gave me the priestly duty of proclaiming the gospel of God, so that the Gentiles might become an offering acceptable to God, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.”

The goal of our Christian walk is to experience daily transformation, where we crucify the flesh so that the Spirit can reign in our lives. As we behold Him with unveiled faces, we are being transformed into His image, becoming more like Christ.

This is the aim of every believer: to be like Christ. That’s why we are called Christians—because to be a Christian means to be Christ-like. We talk and live our lives like Him. That is the true meaning of being a Christian.

The Holy Spirit has been given to us to help put to death the desires of the flesh and self, so that we allow ourselves to be sanctified and transformed by His work in us.

However, one of the key ways we can align with His work in us is by having fellowship with Him. There are countless benefits of fellowshipping with the Holy Spirit, benefits too numerous to list here. But it all begins with that fellowship.

Through fellowship, He can work on us, shaping us into better vessels that the Lord can use for His great works here on earth.

If we make room for Him, He will gladly purge us of anything that is not pleasing to Him. But this only happens if we give Him space and choose to fellowship with Him.

Prayer point: Holy Spirit, please sanctify me, that I am transformed by the renewing of my mind, and Your workings in me. Amen.
