“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.” ~ Phillipians 4:8
One thing to love about the Scriptures is that there is a solution for every problem you might ever face in life. Still on the matter of the power of the mind, today we will be looking at the essence of renewing our minds on a daily basis. And what better reference to use than Paul’s advice?
One way to renew your mind is by guarding your heart, ensuring that you filter what goes into it.
As Paul has said in our verse of today, whatever things are noble, just, pure, lovely, of good report, virtuous, or praiseworthy, these are the things that we are permitted to welcome into our minds. These are the thoughts to meditate upon.
Simply put, any thought that does not glorify God should be immediately filtered out, casting down every thought and imagination that exalts itself against the knowledge of our God.
So, when the enemy comes to whisper to you, “You are a failure,” you cast it down and respond with, “I am prosperous and successful in all that I do, for He who is in me is greater than he who is in the world.”
When the enemy comes with thoughts and arguments that are not to the glory of God, you can respond with words that are virtuous and founded in Scripture, casting down all negative thoughts.Prayer: Lord, please give me the grace to renew my mind on a daily basis.
