“Pray without ceasing.” ~ 1 Thessalonians 5:17
We all know the story of Joseph, how he was sold into slavery, and then, after finding favor in the sight of the king, was misunderstood and put in prison. One thing that stands out in his story is his steadfast nature. Through the tough and difficult times, Joseph never gave up on his faith or abandoned the Lord our God. That is the same approach we ought to use in the place of prayer.
We pray until we see results.
Many times, we forget that prayer is not just an act but a lifestyle. This implies that we ought to pray as if our lives depend on it—because they do. One major error many Christians make is praying only when we feel like it or when faced with a challenge. But we see in the Bible that we are asked to pray without ceasing. That means all the time; whether we feel like it or not, we are required to pray.
Prayer is also a form of communication with God. We all know what it feels like to love someone. How does it feel when the person we love talks to us only when they feel like it? Sad, right? Now put God in those shoes. If we claim to love Him but communicate with Him only when we feel like it, imagine how God feels on His end. See prayer as a means of communicating with God as your friend, father, and Lord.
Prayer Point: Dear Jesus, teach me to be consistent and steadfast in the place of prayer.
