Romans 12:11, “Not slothful in business, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord.”
While it is such an amazing thing to have been filled with the fire of the Holy Spirit, it does not stop there. It is of dire need that we sustain it. As fire can be easily quenched with water or dust, so can the fire of the Holy Spirit be quenched if we do not keep it burning. How do we keep that fire burning? By fully yielding to the will of God. We are to abide by the Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) and flow freely in the Gifts of the Spirit. (1 Corinthians 12: 7-10).
Luke 18:1b says, “Men ought always to pray and not to faint”. You have to pray and keep your altar burning. As believers, we make tremendous Power available when we pray. (James 5:16) Pray in and out of season.
The importance of studying the word of God really cannot be over-emphasized. The word of God is alive and Powerful. It is sharper than any two-edged sword, cutting between Soul and Spirit, between joint and marrow. (Hebrews 4:12a) When Jesus was tempted by the devil, He conquered the devil by speaking the Word of God. (Matthew 4:1-11) Study the word, Profess it, and Live by it.
Keep the fire of God burning in you, submit yourself to God, and let him work in and through you.
Prayer Point: Dear Jesus, give us the enabling strength to continually burn for You, in all that we do. Let our lives always be filled with Your fire. Amen.
