HOLY SPIRIT & RIGHTEOUSNESS: RIGHTEOUSNESS AS HIS CORE CHARACTERISTICS

“If you know that he is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness is born of him.” ~ 1 John 2 vs. 29.

When we look at the person of the Holy Spirit, we come to understand that He is a Holy Being. In Him is Righteousness and an absence of sin.

The word “Righteousness,” in its plain terms as it concerns the Christian faith, can mean the act of being right in the sight of God. In terms of nature, character, attitude, conduct, and instructions. To be right with God, we are required to live a life that is absolutely given to God, a life that is consecrated and holy for the Father.

But with the current nature of man, it is impossible for us to please the Father by our flesh and natural capacity. As we see in Romans 8 vs. 7-8: “Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then those who are in the flesh cannot please God.”

It is for this reason He sent us a helper in the person of the Holy Spirit, who helps us be right in the presence of God.

The person of the Holy Spirit, just as His name implies, is holy, pure, and without blemish. One of his core characteristics, among many others, is that of Holiness and Righteousness.

PRAYER: Father, thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit.
